    Principal's Message 2018 - 2019

    Dear Parents/Guardian:

I’m proud to serve as Principal of Elizabeth T. Hughbanks Elementary School. This is my seventh year here and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome each family to the 2016-17 school year.  I continue to strive to lead our staff in educating our students and serving a caring school community focused on student learning.  My commitment to the school community is ensuring our staff has high expectations of students, and teaching every student “one child at a time.”

My primary goal as principal is to provide each student a safe, secure school environment, and a highly rigorous, organized and effective comprehensive educational program.  As the school year progresses, I will continue to monitor the various policies and procedures that have been implemented to ensure the safety of all students.  Parent Communication is an important aspect of a child’s education. I encourage your involvement, your questions and active participation in all aspects of the school through School Site Council (SSC), English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC), and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

I look forward to meeting all of the parents and/or guardians of Hughbanks Elementary School within the coming weeks and months.  With my “open door “policy, I strongly believe that we will build a stronger school and community partnership.

I am looking forward to another exciting school year here at Hughbanks Elementary and working with you and your children.

    Proud Principal,

    Monte Stewart, Ed.D.

    Vice Principal's Message 2018-2019

Welcome to Hughbanks Elementary!! Whether this is your first day, or whether you have been part of the Hughbanks School Family for several years, I am so pleased that you are part of the great Huskies! This is the beginning of my second full year at Hughbanks, and I know that I am fortunate to be counted among our stellar staff and students.

As your Assistant Principal, I share the same vision and values as our Principal, Dr. Monte Stewart. We are very excited to move forward with “Positive Attitudes With Success,“ or P.A.W.S. towards supporting all students to prepare for College and Career Readiness Success in the 21st century.

I would like to invite you, as family, students, staff, and community, to stop by my office if I may be of assistance in helping you support your child’s progress during this new school year. We offer many technological supports that can be used at home to help your child succeed also, such as Lexia Core 5, First in Math, i-Ready, Footsteps 2 Brilliance and others. Your children all have a gmail account and log-in information to access these programs.

Some simple reminders that have a big impact on your child’s success this year include: getting a good night’s rest, eating breakfast, ensuring he/she has all necessary materials for the day, and arriving on time.

One last huge reminder is communication: speak daily with your child about his/her day (What did you do today?), and speak with your child’s teacher about anything that may be helpful to supporting your child. If you are unsure about an assignment, or if there is something out of your regular routine that may affect your child’s ability to concentrate (illness, new changes, etc.), please speak with your teacher so he/she can assist you. Communication is key to ensuring a successful school year and we look forward to working with you.

Have a fantastic year here at Hughbanks Elementary School J

Want to help your student succeed? Make sure he/she has great attendance. Students who arrive on time daily tend to do better in school than students who are arrive late. Students who arrive late have already missed an important part of their day: the chance to socialize, and prepare mentally for the day ahead without feeling rushed. If a student is late by only 5 minutes a day have missed out on 25 minutes of instruction!  Please help your child by bringing them to school on time. Students who eat breakfast on campus may arrive as early as 7:20. The bell to go play rings at 7:35; the first bell to line up rings at 7:55. Teachers pick up their students and are in class ready to begin at 8:00 a.M. Thank you for your support.
